Tips and Ideas - Hidden Journaling

There may be some journaling that you don't want to share with the world quite yet - think about doing hidden journaling.

There are several ways to hide your journaling, you can create a card and put it in an envelope on the page - you can slide it behind a picture - you can hinge your pictures with clear stickers or other products and journal on the page behind the picture - you can create tags with your journaling inside or on the back. These are just a few ways you can do that - get creative and see what works for your pages.

Challenge #5 - "Reading, Writing, Arithmetic & Gym"

Document something from school - could be report cards - maybe awards - maybe journaling about how hard it was. Who was your best friend? What is your sweetest memory? Did you have a favorite teacher? Any horrifying moment that lives with you still? Any of these things will do, or choose something that moves you. Remember this is about leaving a legacy so tell the story.

Challenge #4 - If I Could Write a Letter to Me

This challenge is a reflection of your life. If you could write a letter to a younger you what would you say? I've included the lyrics from the Brad Paisley song because I like that in the song he includes in his "letter" not only the things that he would like to have changed but also incouraging things about the future and the things he did right.

So there you go - write that letter to yourself.

Challenge #3 - "You're My Inspiration"

This time I want you to think of things two ways - who was your greatest inspiration - and - who would you like to inspire. You can choose one to do or both on one page or two separate pages.

Who we are is so often influenced by those who inspire us to be a better person either by example or just by their being. Is your inspiration a historical figure whose life story impacted you, a teacher who believed in you, a family member who didn't let you down, a child who exemplifies a purity you wish you could achieve? Maybe it was an event that happened, I'm sure that there are many who were inspired by the dedicated service of those who implimented the rescue on 9/11. There are so many things that can inspire us, what's yours?

Challenge - Week 2 "Life ... Staring Me"

We each have many roles we play in our lives, mother, daughter, sister, friend, worker, taxi driver, employee. What are your roles in life? You could do one page that lists your many different roles, you could then flesh it out with subsequent pages about each or some of those roles. You could do a page about the specific role you treasure, struggle with, never wanted, always looked forward to.

Just remember, these roles, while they may not define us, most definitely help shape our lives.

Challenge - Week 1 "Why Me?"

Let's start at the beginning - no, I'm not talking about baby pictures. Journal about why you want to do an "All About Me" book / journal / blog. What is the legacy you hope to leave? Very broad topic and hopefully one that you have thought about some already.

Alrighty folks - let's see your stuff. Post ideas - scan in pages - link to your blog post. Let's start leaving a legacy.

All About Me

We are going to work on leaving a legacy for our decendants. While we need to tell the story of our children's youth and our family's adventures, we also need to document us - we are usually the ones behind the camera, behind the scenes, behind the planning. Put yourself out front with one page a week and at the end of a year you will have an heirloom that your family will treasure.

Join me on this journey and challenge of a page a week. Whether it's traditional scrapbooking, digital scrapbooking or creating a special journal that you attach picutres to. I will try to post pictures here of my pages and would love to share yours as well - e-mail me your creations and share them for others inspiration.

Each Wednesday we will issue a challenge with a topic for the next week - for those of you local you are welcome to join us at my house on Wednesday nights to scrapbook, if you can't make it check in here and keep up. I will post the first topic this Wednesday that way if you want to join us here you can come prepared with the photos and embellishments appropriate for the topic.
